Alpaca products are taxable items when it involved processing. Raw fleece (and the actual animal) are taxable at 0% – essentially there is not tax on animals and the raw fleece when bought from an alpaca farm.
Raw fleece is very popular with weavers. Since alpaca fiber does not keep any shape, it is often blended with other fibers including bamboo. The blend is made at fiber mills.
Fleece is available raw or processed. Processed products include yarn, batts, natural and tinted colours, and so on.
